Sarkozy: "Let them eat cake!"

Il est à peu près certain que Nicolas Sarkozy ne s'est jamais adressé en ces termes (*) aux manifestants de jeudi, dont il a fini par remarquer enfin l'agitation: mais le correspondant de The Independent (mon ancien boss) rapporte un incident survenu dans la Manche, qui dépeint le président en flagrant excès de despotisme et de let-them-eat-cake-isme.

According to The Independent, the French president transferred the prefect and fired the director of police in Manche, where a speech of his was protested earlier this year. Sarkozy was reportedly furious that he was able to hear the jeers of the 3,000 protesters at the site of his speech..
